To explain what a limiting reactant is, let's use an example of building a car. Chemical reactions, like assembling a car, depend on exact ratios of components in order to work properly. Just as a car with fewer than four wheels, one engine, one seat, and a set of controls will not work, a chemical reaction without the right amounts of its components will not work either.
