Scientists tell us that carbon dioxide (CO) is a greenhouse gas, because it absorbs light energy, converting it
to heat. You want to test the effect of CO2 on air temperature directly. So you take 10 flasks, fill them with
pure CO2 gas, and plug the flasks with rubber stoppers so they are airtight. The rubber stopper has a
thermometer inserted so the air temperature of the flask can be measured. You set these flasks in front of a
light bulb. What would be an appropriate control group for this experiment?
10 flasks, set up the exact same way, but filled with normal air instead of pure CO,
No control group is needed.
O 10 flasks, set up the exact same way, but placed in the dark
Same flasks placed in the dark after temperature in the light is recorded.
